Mountain Goats,Lost Marbles,Punkins,and Hoosier Hooch

I went on a Fall Getaway with a van load full of mountain goats.
Sounds like an entry from that"post secret" website--doesn't it!Actually though,it was a trip to Cumberland Falls Kentucky (roughly three hours from this area ) that I took with my boyfriend, his parents and his youngest kids .Besides watching the leaves turning a little bit more everyday from our cabin nestled in the woods --that had 67 steps down to it and slept six , we did a lot of hiking.
This is when I found out that my fellow travelers were ,for all intensive purposes , mountain goats.Ambling and scrambling over rocks, inclines and jagged steps with seemingly little effort. While I fought my deepest seated fears , they reached out and steadied me countless times. The  hardest trail was Eagle Falls that was a 3 mile round trip  with a rugged trail that I probably would not have gone on if I had known  how  scary it would be .When 60 plus year olds , the under 10 year old crowd and  my boyfriend  were  doing it , I thought ..."Why the heck not  me ?" I pushed forward , with aching ,over tired thighs and got a chance to test limits physically and mentally like I haven't in years.

Eddie had  presented me this see through marble with  red and yellow one day. I kept it in my change purse and would pull it out ever so often to chuckles and gentle ribbing about my  mental condition (* snort *) .
Well, somehow on this past trip I managed to lose my marble.
Not the first time or the last ,I'm sure...I suspect it's in the van and when the kids clean it out ,my marble will no longer be MIA ...

Our next excursion took us to Hoosier country,Starlight Indiana to be precise.
Had to pick the punkins that would  adorn our front porches over the next month or so.
Huber Farms had scads of delectable fruits, fresh pressed cider, cheese, homemade ice cream ,hooch and autumnal activities galore.

Steff and my first corn maze !We all stuck behind Eddie and our instincts were correct, he made it through with no problems.I can't find my way out of a  paper bag, so there's that .

My daughter had suggested my Dad some brandy for his birthday this week.Bought a small
bottle, and then found out that without a liquor license I can not send it anywhere.
Looks like that bottle is earmarked for some of Eddie's delightful meat marinades on the grill.Seems I have to order and have it delivered to his house in Texas from Huber directly.

The kids had a ball the other night(my Steff's 26th b-day !),decorating gorgeous gourds.

I bought pie punkins at the farm so I can make pumpkin pie from scratch this year.

Eddie and I have settled on Pumpkin-Cheesecake for Thanksgiving .

I'll bake,he'll taste.
That works.
